vOLUNTEERING as a mother companion

A woman and a baby lying on a couch, facing each other. The woman holds the baby's hands and gently touches the baby's face. The baby is dressed in a pink hat and a white outfit, wrapped in a white blanket, looking at the woman with big eyes.

Mother Companions offer emotional and practical support to migrant mamas, from their last trimester of pregnancy until their babe is 8 weeks old. Our trained volunteers are also on call to act as a trusted birth partner for women who would otherwise give birth alone.

Project MAMA recruits and trains new cohorts of volunteers every 6-12 months.

We are not currently open for applications.

If you’re interested in joining our Mother Companion team, please follow our socials to find out when our next training will be.

vOLUNTEER at our community groups

A food stand at an outdoor event with a large orange banner that says, "No Borders For Our Babies." The stand has various dishes, utensils, and plates, with a young girl and an adult woman purchasing food, under a tent decorated with colorful pennant banners, in a grassy park setting.

Our MAMAhub community groups are a space where mamas & babes can connect, share a hot meal, and enjoy activities.

  • “It should be a non-negotiable for those giving birth to feel seen, heard, validated and respected, it has the potential to dramatically alter their experience as they bring a new life into the world. I feel enormously privileged to have been invited to walk this path with this incredible mama, who taught me so much about being strong and resilient. “ - Volunteer Mother Companion

  • “This really restores my faith in humanity”

  • "If you can support any mama to feel in their power, listened to and that they are treated compassionately, if you can safeguard those simple things, then that sets them up with some really good foundations for this journey into motherhood. It can be really that simple.” - Mother Companion volunteer
